Wonderful silhouette and I like the diagonal line across the image that the horizon makes.
Nature always wins, Mal.
Lovely photo. I am wondering how you took this one. Did you have a spare "hand" ready? Love your image, as always, Kay
I like this: the silouette of a tree against a grainy brooding sky
Mal this picture is just up my street...perfect mood, composition...very pleasing to the eye...Nice one mate!
I love the drama in the shot. Exquisite with the great grain.
Well seen and taken. This is a really good picture.
Death and resurrection. I feel it, Mal.
It reminds me of a very foggy night.
The 'hand' is so symbolic, it reaches up to the sky for help, the mood and the composition in this picture is very good, the tree stands proud and strong, love the drama.
Excactly what Laura said
Classic image, "Malsterised"
the graininess adds to the mood here - nice one Mal
Another classic Mal production.
the compostion and the grain creates the mood...a good one!
I'm on my knees.
Beautiful silhouettes.
Great shot Mal. The grain emphasizes the dramatic atmosphere here!
I've been mulling this idea over in my mind for months now and you have expressed it beautifully, Mal.
It always surprises me....how such a minimalist photo does have a maximum impact!
Great image Mal... Petra
Good one Mal. The stump on the left looks a bit like a human figure in anguish.
Well seen Mal. It has a real gritty northern look to it.
A catcher's hand growing from the ground. It must have a special meaning. It seems to be throwing thousand of grainy pebbles at the poor tree
OK - excellent picture and title.
Fight till the death...
Wow. I've got to hand it to you Mal...
Great shot. Sometimes you have me stumped I'll stop now... Lovely minimalism
Nice silhouettes and texture ...
Great composition. Love the thorniness of the Hawthorn and grittiness of this b&w. What a great metaphor for the nature of mankind. The acquiescent hand shape of a stump speaks volumes.
I've been studying WW1. This image visualises well what the brainless strategy of the Commanders in Chief subjected our British Innocents to in the trenches.
Great moody atmosphere Mal. Real winner
Fantastic Mal
Okay going to go against the grain (no pun intended), not one of our favourites from you, don't know why, it does nothing for us, but thats us
Great silhouette Mal - simple and effective.
wonderfully composed and processed Mal
Lovely shot Mal.. Looks like a hand coming out of the ground.Love the grainy feel
One cannot over-estimate the tactical importance of assuming the high ground.
Telling image, mal, and great to behold.
Brilliant work here Mal. Just to my liking with all that dark grain!
It is like the famous scene of "Which the wind took"...
And I put to God by witness....
Intense, brooding. Love it.
Sublime cette photo
You've done alright here youth. richard
Clearly there wasn't enough room on that hill top for the both of them. A good symbolic find, Mal!
Uh-huh
H.
Love the ambiguity of this. A great composition and treatment. The grain really adds to the atmosphere.
Ingrid
Terrific atmosphere with the grainy effect Malcolm ! Wild almost mineral...
It always works, when you have a thought behind the shot, not just a pretty picture, doesn't it, Mal?
The silhouette on the left looks like a hand reaching up, as if to be asking for something from a higher power. Wonderful find and I really like the grainy texture. -mary beth
ah, grainy and at a funky angle...liking it...
servival of the fittest. what a great bit of work Mal. top marks.
Tout simplement magnifique ...
Gritty and grainy. Wonderful.
wow! a real stunner Mal, real stunner.
Are you Bill Brandt?
Excellent as always Mal.
Gritty, stark & bleak: all the better for it, Mal.
Great grain.
Life and Death. I love the graininess of this image!
Very dramatic. Reminds me of an Ingmar Bergman movie still
great composition mal..like the mood...grainy dramatic
I love the way it blends into the back ground. Nice work.
Great capture. Love the conversion.
And the big one said...."move over..." atmospheric shot. well done.
Not the most original motif, Mal. HOWEVER, fab detail on the tree though, and I love the processing.
The fool on the hill... now petrified...
Cripes Mal, that's creepy
If the shutterchance technical staff made it possible for us to comment by way of audio I would post " The Imperial March" of John Williams. For those who are to young or to old to remember (which is unlikely) that is the song you keep hearing when Darth Vader enters a scene....
Impressive shot!
Beautiful Mal. Very dark and dreamy. The texture in the sky appears like tissue paper.
Grainy-tastic, mal.
And, wow - 65 comments! Clearly a popular shot!
My friend, Superb BW product! beautiful point of view, tones, exposure and contrast just perfect.
Eerie feel, love the odd angles.
Wow, so heavy atmosphere : A great artistic result - Thumbs up !!
