Missed your shots, Mal.
Love this one. I have been going through photography history books for a little project and have seen a lot of beautiful 19th century shot. This would fit right in. Beautiful tones and composition. The processing suits the subject.
Fantastic collection of arches Mal and I like your treatment of them. All the best, Bernie.
Great shot Mal nice to see you back
Very nice location, and you did a good job showing it's potential in this picture. Imagine bringing a model there
Tha atmosphere in this picture is stunning, like I am back in the Middle Ages, just love it, great shot here Mal.
Very nice picture.
Have a great New Year and all the best Wishes.
There is a spooky feel here. Just what you were after, I imagine. Very nice composition.
Great use of light to depict this interesting space.
Very nice composition Mal. Great perspective and treatment. I like the atmosphere
Great perspective - it just makes me want to walk right down to the end and see what's outside the arch. I like the treatment too - BTW what is a bead blasted filter? And how on earth do you manage to remove the Vaseline afterwards?
Ingrid
Fantastic composition and atmosphere!
nice shot Mal. great composition and exposure. (bead blasted?)
Merry Christmas (belated) Mal man, hope you had a beautiful and lovely time
Beautiful image, as usual. All the best for 2008.
Amazing treatment Mal. It's like being thrown back into the Middle Ages.
A wonderful and evocative shot Mal, looks familiar, is this perchance fountains?
by the way all the best for the new year....
Smashing grain effect and lovely composition with the sunlit windows.
I like the starbursts of flare at the windows. Is that the vaseline?
Has an HDR feel Mal, fine image.
This reminds me of a picture I took of fountains abbey in about 1996, only I was at the other end. Your picture is far far better than mine.
Good angle and great depth - have a creative New Year ;o)
You are sitting behind the second pillar - a leg and foot sticking out to trip someone in the hope of producing an excellent blurry. Didn't work hey, you gotta pay the actors.
Excellent picture of once upon a time - could be Lady Guinnevere's foot beckoning
This looks like the background on a history channel documentary. Now my only question is where is the invading army?
Fantastic shot Mal. Like the rest I have to ask bead blasted?
Great composition and texture - the subject obviously helps here. My "ShMood" point would be that it's a shame to have no detail in the darkest shadow and the highlit areas of the door and windows. Minor points but a hint of detail in these places would add significantly to the 'story' of the picture.
When were you last at Bolton Abbey then?
Love the perfect framing of the window arch at the far end. Nice one.
Lol, don't mean Bolton Abbey at all! I meant to say Fountains Abbey! Been over in Lancashire too long!
This looks like a drawing from an old architecture book. Excellent and interesting work, as usual. Have a wonderful 2008!
This is a fantastic image, Mal. Amazing atmosphere. (:o)
going to church for news years. good on you.
Just beautiful, Mal. Love this. Happy new year!
lovely composition
Excellent shot mal, loving everything about it.. Have a good one!
This is a fantastic shot Mal. I love the composition and contrast.
Stunning shot - very satisfying composition.
Stunning shot Mal, have a happy new year.
happy new year Mal!
Come on...quite certain u could have had a new image for the day. Nevertheless still a stunner!
How could we NOT love that slight smear of vaseline, Mal! MAN!
Happy New Year to you and yours. Of course. Hope to see you again soon.
Need we say more...A master photographer at work. Happy New Year to You and all the best for the coming year. Francis
every time i come over here i think...i must buy some vaseline!!
wonderful! Happy new year!
superbe cette perspective
Some centuries ago...
Great work with the lights and lines...
As usual: too good to be true. That's certainly a real masterpiece - the composition is classic and spot-on, but what really makes the picture sing is the B&W treatment (I'm not sure, whether it's post-processing or just good plain B&W film).
Thanks a lot for sharing and happy 2008!
As Michael stated in the first post - the processing suits the subject down to the ground.
I keep expecting a knight to pop their head round a column and shout "boo!" Can't begin to think how you did this, so I'll just look at in awe for another 5 mins.. I Must google bead blasting...
...and have a great 2008! How rude of me...
One of my favorite shots of yours, Mal...a peek in another time..of knights and damsels, of mystery and lore. Very beautiful.
It is the dormitory that Anthony Ork likes best...no terrors here because the fierce Battle Dwarves don't like to wield their two-edged axes in arched places...here Anthony can rest back in the company of his 10,000 fellow Orks and sleep the dreamless sleep of the innocents.
Waking, though, can be the worst time of all...
now this i can relate to a lot more than the new year pic...brilliant!
Very very nice Mal.
I like the treatment that you have given the image! The light and the repetition of the arcs are very nice!
Very impressive picture : A masterpiece !!
yeash, lovely one
