This was taken a few hundred yards from my old home in Crieff (Scotland). On a technical note, vaseline was used to create the blur in the foliage.
All the best. mal

Magical trees! This is excellent.
Quite fantastical!
Damn, what the hell is this, mal? The Magic Forest from Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood"? You keep surprising me, man. When I think, that it, mal squeezed all he could from his vaseline magic, you always come up with something as mind blowing as this.

Very well thought this technique. A forest imagination
I love this picture
OK, Mal.. I have to know where you got your imagination! Your photos never cease to amaze me. Awesome!
Gorgeous. Feels like I'm in a dream.
I'm guessing we'll see a lamppost in there if we look far/long enough, Mal? Enchanting.
This is excellent mal, what have you done?
Way too cool! Very dreamy. Great use of… vaseline..
Beautiful and unique.
These trees are like ballerinas in a magic forest. Another magical creation in vaseline- majeur.
All the best in thinking up the next one.
I did wonder when I looked at it, how the snow was managing to stay on in the wind! glad you explained. This is a beautiful image - very creative.

I have always wondered about vaseline photography. Perhaps it's time to try my hands at it too?
Very magical feel to it.
This is just excellent. You are a magician Mal!
Woderful almost a white out
The trees will have a hard time holing onto snow with all that vaseline and you must have had to use a lot of vaseline. Only kidding...LOL Very cool photo effect, Mal.
Pentax ME super...takes me back. My first 35mm camera was a Pentax SV...wish I still had it.
Vaseline used to great effect Mal.
ME super - what a camera, small enough to slip into your Barbour pocket. Still have mine, but not used it in anger for a while!
Very strange effect - looks like it has been snowing feathers. Always impressed with your innovation, pushing boundaries thro conventional means. Have a good week end. Mike ;o)
You sure get through some amount of vaseline Mal - have you got shares in the company?
Have a good one. Bernie
love it.
Nice effects. Love it
Simply fantastic, as always Bravo!!!!!
Why I not use the vasellina in photography after so many examples of the "master" Mal ?!?!?!
Flamin heck, I love it but what does that amount of vaseline do to your lens ?
You are the man Malwalker, I'd be wettin myself ! J
i can feel the wind man!! que chevere!
This is WOW, love the magic and light in this one
Everything everyone said time three. I can't stop looking at this one.
Narnia...before the thaw!
My favourite of all the "snow" pics that have graced SC this winter. [So glad you have found another use for vaseline, mal, as "repairing chapped lips" looked a bit lonely on its resume]
wow awesome image Mal, not sure if every one will be out buying vaseline though
Beautiful winter-wonderland.
As many have said, the vaseline effect is magical. It's a small world--I spent a wonderful seven months in Crieff in 1979.
kudos sir, you have impressed once more..
Never I saw a photo so full of the imagination: That is snow, snow over snow, and we are sinking into the snow, deeper and deeper, I don't know if we shall escape these lots of snow, and then- ?
This is beautiful mal, well done! Very fairytale like
love the mystery in the shot
Straight out of either Narnia or Tolkein - but I think I've said that before about a snow scene of yours. Magic.
This makes me think of a scene of The Cronicals of Naraina or Narania..forgot the title. But hey, this is "cool" shot. Call me stupid..but how did you use the vaseline? I'm curious...
gee, this is magical/surreal/beautiful/intriguing/fantastic all rolled into one. A cracker.
This is a feast for the eyes. I love it! Just the right blend of reality and fantasy
Fantastic shot Mal,its a cracker.
This is absolutely stunning!! I Love it!!!!
You are a great talent!
Wow Mal. A much overused word these days is awesome, but this shot is.. well...
Since reading your blog I now buy my vaseline in 5Kg tubs. Actually that's a lie, but I want to go out and buy some vaseline. Not too many blogs could say that... or at least the kinds of blogs I read anyway
Oh wow! My flabber is gasted - this is just so brilliant! Awesome! (:o)
Hm, what does one say after 45 previous comments - without just repeating the obvious?
The contrasts, the reduction to (nearly) only pure black and white gives the photo a great graphical quality, that contrast really great with the fluffy treetops. And the composition is spot on, the view is just sucked into the forest - wondering what comes after those first trees.
I've not read all 46 comments to see if an answer already exists but my curiosity has been pricked...how long did it take to put the vaseline on all those branches?
Wow, this is awesome! The foliage has such a haunting effect - love it!
could you please explain to me how you created your vaseline effect. I didn t get it.
the picture s amazing.
Wonderful image.
ace work keep it up
pretty ghostly but loving it
This is a MASTERPIECE ! Really ! It really gives a powerful atmosphere to the image... and underlines the delicacy of the snow on the branches. I'm speechless.
